Experience the exceptional quality of Guado al Tasso 2022, a luxurious red wine from the prestigious Bolgheri region in Italy. This vintage reflects a unique growing season marked by drought conditions and timely August rains that perfectly balanced grape ripening, resulting in an intense, full-bodied wine with remarkable complexity.
Vintage
The 2022 season in Bolgheri was characterised by an early budbreak and slowed vegetative growth due to prolonged drought, balanced by beneficial rain showers in mid-August. These conditions produced smaller but perfectly ripe berries with balanced sugar, acidity, and flavour concentration. The harvest was meticulously staggered: Merlot in early September, Cabernet Franc mid-September, and Cabernet Sauvignon late September.
Vinification
Each grape variety was handpicked and sorted twice to ensure only the finest ripe berries were fermented. Grapes from distinct vineyard parcels were fermented separately in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats for 18-25 days. Following fermentation, the wine completed malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques before blending the top vineyard selections. Guado al Tasso 2022 then matured in new French oak barrels until bottling in May 2024.
Tasting Notes:
Guado al Tasso 2022 displays a deep ruby red colour with an aromatic bouquet of fresh red fruits, floral hints, and subtle sweet spices like tobacco and liquorice root. The palate is silky, savoury, and well-structured with elegant tannins, offering immediate enjoyment and excellent ageing potential over the coming years.
