Experience the exceptional quality of the Guado al Tasso 2017 vintage, a premium Super Tuscan red wine from Bolgheri, Tuscany. Crafted from meticulously hand-harvested grapes grown in the ideal Mediterranean climate near the sea, this wine embodies the perfect balance of power and elegance.
Vintage
The 2017 growing season featured mild winters and early bud break, with the coastal Bolgheri region protected from late April frosts. Hot and dry weather from May to August naturally limited vine growth and cluster size, while timely rain showers in late summer ensured a balanced ripening process. Harvest began early, with Merlot grapes picked on August 26th, followed by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in late September.
Winemaking
Each grape variety was carefully handpicked from individual vineyard blocks, with a strict double sorting process before fermentation to ensure optimal grape quality. Fermentation and maceration occurred in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats for 15-20 days. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barriques, followed by ageing in new French oak barrels until bottling in July 2019.
Tasting Notes
Guado al Tasso 2017 showcases an intense ruby red colour with a clean, powerful nose bursting with aromas of ripe red berries—raspberries, wild strawberries, and blackberries—accented by subtle hints of laurel and mint. On the palate, this Super Tuscan wine offers a soft, voluminous entry with a persistent, silky tannic structure and remarkable balance. Perfect for immediate enjoyment or cellar ageing to enhance complexity over the next decade.
