Discover the exquisite Guado al Tasso 2019, a celebrated Tuscan red crafted from carefully selected Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This prestigious Italian wine benefits from the unique 2019 growing season, marked by cool spring weather and ideal late summer sun, producing grapes of unparalleled quality and flavour.
Vintage
The 2019 vintage experienced a cool April and May, delaying initial vine growth, but warm, dry conditions in July promoted full grape maturity. The grapes developed lighter, loosely packed clusters, especially in late-ripening varieties, leading to enhanced flavour concentration. Stable sunny days in August and September allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly, culminating in a harvest starting mid-September and finishing in early October.
Vinification
At the winery, grapes underwent meticulous double sorting before fermentation to ensure only the finest berries were used. Each vineyard parcel was fermented separately in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats for 15 to 20 days. Following fermentation, the wine aged in new French oak barriques, completing malolactic fermentation by year-end. The final blend, crafted from the best vineyard blocks, was aged further until bottling in June 2021.
Tasting Notes
Guado al Tasso 2019 boasts a deep ruby red colour with a complex bouquet of tobacco, liquorice, ripe plums, balsamic hints, and subtle toasted coffee aromas. On the palate, it reveals remarkable aromatic precision, a savoury character, and silky, well-structured tannins. This full-bodied Tuscan red wine promises outstanding ageing potential, perfect for collectors and connoisseurs.
