Experience the elegance of Guado al Tasso 2020, a prestigious Tuscan red wine crafted from select vineyard blocks in the Bolgheri region of Italy. This vintage benefits from ideal weather conditions, resulting in a balanced, refined wine perfect for collectors and connoisseurs seeking high-quality Italian Cabernet Sauvignon blends.
Vintage Overview
The 2020 growing season began with mild winter weather and occasional rain, followed by a brief cold snap in March that affected only the youngest Cabernet Franc vines. Despite a slight reduction in yields, the grape quality remained superb. Spring brought warm temperatures and healthy flowering from late May to early June, while the summer stayed hot and dry with no extreme heat events. Cool nights and light rains in late September to October created perfect temperature swings, enhancing the complexity and depth of the fruit.
Winemaking Process
The grapes for Guado al Tasso 2020 were meticulously hand-harvested and sorted twice to ensure only perfectly ripe berries were used. Each vineyard block was vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats for 15 to 20 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques. The wine aged in new French oak barrels until bottling in June 2022, enhancing its aromatic profile and texture.
Tasting Notes
This wine displays a deep ruby red colour, with enticing aromas of dark berries, sweet spices, toasted oak, and earthy forest floor notes. On the palate, it boasts well-balanced, silky tannins and a persistent finish. Guado al Tasso 2020 is approachable now but also offers outstanding ageing potential for wine enthusiasts looking to cellar a premium Italian red wine.
