Vintage Conditions – Tuscany 2020
Growing season: 2020 in Tuscany was generally warm to hot, with early warmth and some spring temperature swings, followed by intense summer heat. A cooling phase in late August helped preserve acidity and promoted balanced phenolic ripeness in the grapes.
Harvest: Grapes were picked at optimal maturity, Sangiovese earlier for freshness and Cabernet Sauvignon timed carefully to avoid over‑ripeness, resulting in wines with good balance of fruit, acidity and tannin.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Clear ruby red with warm purple hues.
Nose: Inviting aromas of blackberry, plum, dark cherry, wild herbs, and subtle floral notes of violet.
Palate: Medium-to-full bodied with juicy red and black fruits, leather, spice, and a gentle earthiness. The texture is elegant with powdery tannins and vibrant acidity.
Finish: Balanced and lingering, with savoury tobacco, dried herbs, and minerality, a signature of quality Tuscan blends.
Vineyard & Winemaking
Le Difese is sourced from vineyards planted on limestone, marl, and clay soils with southern exposures that maximise ripeness and freshness. Hand-harvested grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation and malolactic conversion before being aged in French oak barriques previously used for the estate’s premium wines, refining texture, and complexity.
Food Pairings
This versatile Tuscan red shines with a wide range of dishes:
• Grilled lamb chops or steak
• Beef ragù and pasta al forno
• Pork tenderloin or game birds
• Aged cheeses & Mediterranean antipasti
The wine’s acidity and structured tannins make it a brilliant partner for rich, herb-infused cuisine.
