Crafted in the prestigious El Cepillo vineyard of San Carlos, Mendoza, the Gran Enemigo El Cepillo 2019 is a small-batch, premium Cabernet Franc that reflects the soul of Argentina's finest terroir. Grown at 1,300 metres (4,265 feet) above sea level, this wine is the product of high-density planting (8,000 vines/hectare) and meticulous vineyard management.
Soil & Terroir
The vineyard’s unique colluvial soils layered over marine limestone bring depth and minerality to the wine, giving it structure and complexity. The cool, dry, and sunny 2019 growing season – known locally as “El Año Mendocino” – provided perfect ripening conditions with moderate yields and exceptional balance.
Winemaking & Ageing
Fermented in French oak barrels using 30% whole bunch fermentation, the wine undergoes a 5-day cold maceration, followed by a total maceration of 23 days at an average temperature of 26°C. Harvested in five stages over 1.5 months to capture ideal ripeness, the wine was aged for 15 months in 100-year-old foudres, adding elegance without overpowering oak.
