Discover the elegance of southern Italian winemaking with the Vigneti del Vulture Pipoli 2023, a refreshing white wine crafted from indigenous grapes, Greco and Fiano, grown on the volcanic slopes of Mount Vulture in Basilicata, Italy.
These high-altitude vineyards, reaching up to 800 metres above sea level, benefit from cooler temperatures and a long ripening season, resulting in grapes with exceptional flavour concentration and freshness. Despite the challenging 2023 vintage, with heavy rains reducing yields, the remaining fruit delivered outstanding quality and aromatic depth.
The wine is fermented in stainless steel at low temperatures (10°C) and aged on its lees to enhance mouthfeel and preserve its vibrant character. Every step of the winemaking process is done in an oxygen-free environment to maintain the pure, fresh fruit aromas.
Tasting Notes
Pipoli 2023 shows a brilliant yellow hue with green reflections. On the nose, it bursts with tropical fruit aromas and white stone fruit. On the palate, it is crisp, lively, and well-balanced, with a refreshing acidity that highlights the wine’s natural minerality and volcanic terroir.
In 2008, Valentino Sciotti of the renowned Fantini Group acquired a small Acerenza cooperative nestled in the prestigious Aglianico del Vulture wine region. Under the expert guidance of consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini and the skilled Danilo Gizzi, the winery crafts authentic Vigneti del Vulture wines that beautifully express the unique terroir and character of these volcanic vineyards.
Located on the slopes of Mount Vulture, an extinct volcano in Southern Italy, the vineyards thrive at elevations up to 800 metres above sea level. This isolated and pristine area, one of Italy’s best-kept secrets for wine lovers, features low-trained vines planted in volcanic soils rich in clay and limestone.
