Discover the exquisite Prunotto Costamiole Nizza Riserva 2020, a premium Italian red wine crafted in the renowned Piedmont region. This Nizza DOCG Riserva is made from carefully selected Nebbiolo grapes, showcasing the true essence of traditional Italian winemaking.
Vintage Overview:
The 2020 vintage experienced a mild winter with balanced precipitation, followed by an early spring with dry, sunny weather encouraging even vine growth. Despite rainy periods in May and June slowing development, optimal groundwater levels prevented summer water stress. September's ideal conditions, with warm days and cool nights, ensured perfect grape ripening. Harvested between September 13th and 21st, these grapes capture the finest flavours of the season.
Winemaking Process:
After careful destemming and crushing, the grapes underwent gentle maceration with two daily pump-overs at temperatures below 30°C (86°F) to extract full-bodied flavours. The wine was aged 12 months in new French oak barriques, followed by an additional year of bottle ageing to develop complexity and depth.
Tasting Notes:
This Nizza Riserva displays an intense ruby red colour with vibrant purple highlights. Aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, and plums intertwine with warm notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and liquorice. On the palate, expect a rich, velvety texture with a well-structured yet elegant and harmonious finish, a perfect balance of opulence and finesse.
Perfect For:
• Lovers of full-bodied Italian red wines
• Pairing with rich meats, aged cheeses, and hearty pasta dishes
• Collectors seeking premium Piedmont wines with exceptional ageing potential.
