Discover the bold elegance of Marchesi Antinori Bramasole Cortona Syrah 2017, a premium Italian red wine crafted at La Braccesca estate in Tuscany. This exceptional vintage Syrah is the result of a hot, dry growing season that brought out the grape’s full varietal character, ideal for Syrah lovers seeking a rich and expressive wine.
Vintage & Harvest Notes
The 2017 growing season featured above-average temperatures and limited rainfall, creating ideal conditions for Syrah. Although a late April frost reduced yields, the remaining grapes developed beautifully thanks to expert vineyard management. The Syrah grapes were hand-harvested between September 10th and 14th at peak ripeness to ensure optimal flavour.
Winemaking & Ageing Process
After gentle destemming and crushing, the must underwent a cold soak to extract complex aromatics, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°C (82°F). The wine remained in contact with the skins for 15 days, enhancing its deep colour and structure. Ageing took place over 18 months in French oak barrels (both new and second-fill), with malolactic fermentation enhancing smoothness and complexity. Bottled in spring 2019.
Tasting Notes
This vintage of Bramasole Cortona Syrah displays an intense ruby red hue. On the nose, it offers elegant aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, and subtle spice, layered with notes of sweet liquorice and vanilla. The palate is powerful yet refined, showcasing well-integrated tannins and a velvety texture. The finish is long and memorable, leaving behind impressions of dark fruit and delicate oak.
Discover Six Centuries of Tuscan Winemaking with the Antinori Family Wines
Experience the legacy of one of Italy’s most iconic wine producers, the Antinori family, whose winemaking heritage in Tuscany spans over 600 years and 26 generations. Since 1385, the Antinori family has crafted fine Italian wines that reflect both ancient tradition and a pioneering spirit of innovation.
Originally silk traders in 12th-century Florence, the Antinori’s transitioned to winemaking and quickly gained international acclaim. By the 16th century, Antinori wines were being exported to France, Flanders, Spain, and North Africa, establishing a global reputation for quality Italian wine exports.
A major milestone in their journey was the acquisition of the Tignanello Estate in 1900, which sparked a new era of innovation and growth. Today, Antinori is celebrated as one of the top Tuscan wine producers, with prestigious vineyards in Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria, and Puglia.
The Antinori vineyards cover nearly 1,400 hectares of premium vineyard land in Tuscany and Umbria, producing world-renowned wines such as Tignanello, Solaia and Badia a Passignano.
As Marchese Piero Antinori states, “Ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never held back our spirit of innovation.”
Whether you're seeking premium red wines from Tuscany or iconic Italian white wines for your collection, the Antinori family continues to define excellence in Italian winemaking.
