Indulge in the timeless elegance of one of Tuscany’s most celebrated wines: the Marchese Antinori Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino 2017. Crafted by one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious winemaking families, this iconic Brunello combines centuries of tradition with modern viticulture to deliver a wine of exceptional depth, balance, and sophistication. Perfect for special occasions, collectors, or pairing with gourmet Italian cuisine, Pian delle Vigne is the epitome of Italian luxury in a bottle.
Vintage
Experience the elegance of the 2017 vintage, marked by a hot, dry climate that produced intensely flavourful grapes. Early bud break and smaller clusters were balanced by careful vineyard management and timely September rainfall, resulting in grapes with perfect ripeness. Harvesting occurred between September 1st and 26th, yielding a wine with exceptional structure, balance, and aromatic complexity.
Vinification
The grapes were gently destemmed and crushed before undergoing fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28°C (82°F) for approximately 12 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine aged for two years in oak barrels of 30–80 hl, followed by extended bottle aging to achieve its refined, elegant character.
Tasting Notes
Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino 2017 exhibits a deep ruby red colour with aromas of ripe red fruit, plums, and dates, enhanced by Mediterranean herbs, violet flowers, ginger, and subtle spicy chocolate notes. The palate is silky and balanced, with a fresh, harmonious structure and a lingering finish of liquorice, cocoa powder, and red fruit.
Discover Six Centuries of Tuscan Winemaking with the Antinori Family Wines
Experience the legacy of one of Italy’s most iconic wine producers, the Antinori family, whose winemaking heritage in Tuscany spans over 600 years and 26 generations. Since 1385, the Antinori family has crafted fine Italian wines that reflect both ancient tradition and a pioneering spirit of innovation.
Originally silk traders in 12th-century Florence, the Antinori’s transitioned to winemaking and quickly gained international acclaim. By the 16th century, Antinori wines were being exported to France, Flanders, Spain, and North Africa, establishing a global reputation for quality Italian wine exports.
A major milestone in their journey was the acquisition of the Tignanello Estate in 1900, which sparked a new era of innovation and growth. Today, Antinori is celebrated as one of the top Tuscan wine producers, with prestigious vineyards in Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria, and Puglia.
The Antinori vineyards cover nearly 1,400 hectares of premium vineyard land in Tuscany and Umbria, producing world-renowned wines such as Tignanello, Solaia and Badia a Passignano.
As Marchese Piero Antinori states, “Ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never held back our spirit of innovation.”
Whether you're seeking premium red wines from Tuscany or iconic Italian white wines for your collection, the Antinori family continues to define excellence in Italian winemaking.
