Exceptional 2010 Vintage
The 2010 harvest stands among the best of the 21st century. Ideal weather throughout the growing season produced low-yield, small-berry clusters, ensuring concentrated flavour and natural balance. Warm, sunny days followed by cool Atlantic nights created perfect ripening conditions, delivering a Rioja red wine of outstanding freshness, complexity, and age-worthiness.
Estate Vineyards & Sustainable Practices
Grapes are hand-harvested from La Rioja Alta’s historic vineyards in Briñas, Labastida, and Villalba, with Graciano sourced from the Montecillo estate in Fuenmayor. Sustainability is central to the winery’s philosophy, minimal treatments, renewable energy, water reuse, and insect-friendly biodiversity all play a role in preserving vineyard health and terroir integrity.
Traditional Winemaking & Barrel Ageing
Following gentle destemming and fermentation, Tempranillo and Mazuelo were co-fermented, while Graciano was vinified separately for precision and balance. The wine matured for six years in oak barrels, undergoing 10 traditional rackings for natural clarification. Unfiltered before bottling, it then aged an additional six years in bottle, ensuring exceptional depth and harmony, crafted only in the most outstanding vintages.

Crafted with a perfect balance of tradition and innovation. Founded in 1890 in Haro, Spain, this historic winery produces award-winning Rioja Reserva and Gran Reserva wines that reflect over a century of expertise and passion.
Each bottle of La Rioja Alta wine tells a story, celebrating the heritage of the founding families: the Aranas, the Ardanzas, and the Alberdis. These names now grace the labels of their prestigious Reserva wines, aged meticulously in handcrafted American oak barrels made by in-house coopers.
At their state-of-the-art winery in Labastida, opened in 1996, La Rioja Alta focuses on enhancing quality and showcasing the purest expression of Tempranillo and other native Spanish grape varietals. Using sustainable vineyard practices, manual racking by candlelight, and long-term cask ageing, the winery delivers complex, structured wines that age beautifully.
