Experience the exceptional taste of the Jim Barry McRae Wood Shiraz 2017, a premium Clare Valley Shiraz crafted from carefully nurtured grapes in one of Australia’s most revered wine regions. This vintage benefitted from the slowest start in over a decade due to record rainfall, creating ideal conditions for producing richly flavoured and intensely coloured Shiraz grapes with balanced acidity and elegant savoury tannins.
Grown on prime vineyard land purchased by Jim Barry in 1964, the McRae Wood vineyard features grey sandy topsoil over clay subsoil, ideal for cultivating Shiraz grapes with complex blueberry and cherry flavour profiles. The single cordon vine training and Clare Valley’s cool night temperatures result in a perfectly balanced wine with a refined, velvety texture.
Vinified using traditional methods, the grapes underwent careful fermentation in stainless steel tanks with twice-daily pump-overs and gentle extraction to preserve the wine’s delicate aromas. Following malolactic fermentation, the Shiraz was matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, adding layers of spice, black olive, and charred oak notes.
This Clare Valley Shiraz wine boasts concentrated dark berries, a soft yet complex palate, and a lengthy finish, making it an ideal choice for wine lovers seeking an elegant, full-bodied red with outstanding depth and drive.
Perfect for: special occasions, wine collectors, gourmet meals, or gifting.
