Experience the authentic taste of Tuscany with Il Marroneto Ignaccio Rosso di Montalcino 2020, a meticulously crafted 100% Sangiovese red wine. Grown on the cool northern slopes of Montalcino at elevations of 350-450 meters, this limited-edition vintage boasts perfectly balanced acidity and aromatic freshness, thanks to its unique terroir of marine sand and clay soils.
Traditional hand-harvested Sangiovese grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and gentle maceration to preserve the wine’s natural purity. Aged for 18 months in large Slavonian and French oak barrels, this Rosso di Montalcino reveals vibrant red cherry, wild strawberry, and floral violet aromas with subtle hints of cinnamon, lavender, and forest floor earthiness.
On the palate, enjoy a medium to full-bodied texture with juicy acidity, refined tannins, and a lingering finish of violet candy and soft spice. This elegant red wine pairs perfectly with grilled venison, duck breast with cherry glaze, wild mushroom pasta, and aged Tuscan cheeses like Pecorino Toscano.
Ideal drinking window: to 2028, with moderate ageing potential for collectors. Perfect for wine lovers seeking authentic Italian Rosso di Montalcino with artisanal craftsmanship.
Discover the timeless elegance of Il Marroneto, a small-production winery in the northern hills of Montalcino, Tuscany, specializing in traditional Brunello di Montalcino wines. Founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Mori and led by his son, Alessandro Mori, the estate produces some of the most age-worthy and highly regarded organic Brunello wines in Italy.
Set at 400 meters above sea level, Il Marroneto’s 5.8 hectares of vineyards benefit from cool mountain air, nutrient-rich sandy soils, and natural limestone and galestro, a terroir that nurtures vibrant, structured wines. The vines, planted gradually between 1975 and 1983, average over 35 years old, and are spaced for optimal vine health and minimal chemical intervention.
True to its heritage, Il Marroneto uses only native yeast fermentation, minimal cellar manipulation, and traditional large French oak casks (2600L) for ageing. The wine undergoes a nine-day fermentation in 50% stainless steel and 50% wood, followed by 39 months of barrel ageing, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered, resulting in deep, complex wines with extraordinary longevity.
Each bottle of Il Marroneto reflects the spirit of its historic estate, originally a 13th-century tower once used by convent nuns to store chestnuts for flour.
