Discover the bold taste of Puglia with the 2024 Vigneti del Salento ‘I Muri’ Primitivo, An expressive, full-bodied red wine from Puglia. Sourced from premium vineyards in the communes of Manduria and Sava, this Primitivo is crafted from low-yield vines, including a portion of old bush vines over 20 years old. Grown at elevations of 70–100 meters on iron-rich calcareous clay soils, the grapes benefit from optimal ripening conditions that enhance their concentration and complexity.
Despite challenging spring weather, alternating northern and southern winds helped to maintain grape health and flavour intensity, resulting in a vintage of excellent quality. The grapes undergo gentle destemming and pressing, followed by 10 days of temperature-controlled maceration and fermentation. The wine is aged in seasoned American and French oak barriques after malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
This Primitivo wine offers a deep ruby red colour with violet hues, aromas of ripe red berries, and a rich, velvety mouthfeel. Expect smooth tannins and bold fruit-forward flavours that linger on the palate, perfect for pairing with grilled meats, aged cheeses, or hearty Italian pasta dishes.
