Discover the exceptional Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2023, crafted by Dog Point Vineyard, founded by former Cloudy Bay winemakers Ivan Sutherland and James Healy. This premium organic Sauvignon Blanc comes from the renowned Wairau Valley in Marlborough, New Zealand, where cool maritime climate and nutrient-rich silty clay soils produce grapes bursting with vibrant citrus and tropical fruit flavours.
Handpicked and whole-cluster pressed, the grapes ferment naturally with a blend of Indigenous and cultured yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then carefully aged for four months, bottled unfined, and matures further in bottle to deliver a crisp yet complex profile. Perfect for lovers of refreshing, mineral-driven white wines.

Dog Point Vineyard brings together the expertise of Ivan Sutherland and James Healy, two pioneers of New Zealand winemaking with deep roots at Cloudy Bay, where Sutherland served as chief viticulturalist and Healy as head winemaker. Together, they have created a legacy of artisanal, small-batch wines from Marlborough that express the true character of the land.
The name Dog Point originates from early European settlers in Marlborough, who grazed sheep on open land with few fences. Shepherds' dogs that went missing or strayed eventually formed wild packs, roaming the tussock-covered hills overlooking the Wairau Plains, an area that came to be known as Dog Point. Today, that rugged terrain lends its name and spirit to these exceptional wines.
After departing Cloudy Bay, Sutherland and Healy began crafting their own wines using estate-grown grapes from vineyards planted in the 1970s and 1980s. These vineyards are situated in the Brancott and Wairau Valleys of Marlborough, New Zealand’s premier wine region. Some vines are rooted in clay-silt valley floors, ideal for crisp Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, while others are perched on sun-drenched ridges, perfect for growing elegant New Zealand Pinot Noir and complex barrel-aged Chardonnay.
All grapes are hand-picked and naturally fermented, using traditional, non-interventionist methods. Except for their iconic stainless steel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, all wines undergo extended barrel aging with minimal racking and handling. This low-intervention approach results in organic-style wines with pure varietal expression and outstanding texture.
