Experience the elegance of the Delaire Graff Botmaskop 2019 vintage, crafted from handpicked grapes sourced from the finest Stellenbosch vineyards. This premium South African red wine showcases the unique character developed through a challenging growing season marked by severe weather fluctuations during bud break and flowering, followed by cool, windy conditions that resulted in smaller, more concentrated berries.
The carefully selected grapes were harvested early in the morning to preserve freshness and acidity. Through meticulous vinification processes, including whole berry fermentation, gentle punch downs, and basket pressing, the wine achieves a refined balance of rich fruit flavours and elegant tannins. Maturation in 50% new French oak barrels over 16 months adds complex layers, including subtle spice and cassis notes, complemented by smooth malolactic fermentation.
Tasting Profile
Savour intense blackberry and liquorice flavours with rich cassis aromas, followed by fine, lingering tannins and a perfectly balanced acidity. Ideal for wine enthusiasts seeking a sophisticated and full-bodied Stellenbosch red wine with exceptional ageing potential.
Delaire Graff Wine Estate is renowned for its exceptional high-altitude vineyards nestled on the crest of the scenic Helshoogte Mountain Pass, overlooking the world-famous Stellenbosch wine region. Originally established as Avontuur Farm, this historic estate was purchased in 1982 by celebrated South African wine writer and winemaker John Platter, who renamed it Delaire Estate, meaning “From the Sky.”
In 2003, Laurence Graff, founder of Graff Diamonds International Ltd, acquired the estate and launched an extensive six-year redevelopment project to transform Delaire Graff into a luxury South African boutique winery, complete with a world-class restaurant, hotel, and spa. During this transformation, Delaire Graff installed one of the most advanced wine cellars in the Southern Hemisphere, operational from 2008 with the release of its first premium wines under the Delaire Graff label.
With only 22 hectares under vine, Delaire Graff focuses on cultivating varietals perfectly suited to its unique terroir, including Chardonnay and classic red Bordeaux varietals. The estate also sources Shiraz grapes from cooler coastal vineyards, Sauvignon Blanc grapes blended from four premium South African wine regions, and Chenin Blanc from 35-year-old bush vines in Swartland. These carefully selected vineyards are managed year-round by Delaire Graff’s expert viticulture team, ensuring the highest grape quality.
