The David Moret Rully 2024 is a refined and expressive white Burgundy sourced exclusively from the Rully appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise. Crafted with precision and respect for terroir, this wine delivers classic Burgundian balance, minerality, and elegance.
Vineyards – Rully, Côte Chalonnaise
This Rully white wine comes from carefully selected vineyards in the northernmost village of the Côte Chalonnaise, an area increasingly recognised for producing high-quality Burgundy Chardonnay. The grapes are grown on deep clay-limestone soils, which contribute to the wine’s round texture and appealing richness while retaining freshness and structure. All fruit is hand-harvested into small boxes, ensuring optimal berry integrity and quality upon arrival at the winery.
2024 Burgundy Vintage
The 2024 Burgundy vintage was defined by challenging growing conditions, including unusually high rainfall and one of the lowest sunshine levels in the past two decades. Persistent disease pressure required meticulous vineyard management throughout the season. Crucially, improved sunshine in late August allowed the grapes to reach excellent balance and concentration. Although yields were reduced, quality remained high, resulting in a vintage that reflects classic Burgundian conditions, offering freshness and restraint in contrast to the hotter 2022 and 2023 vintages.
Winemaking & Ageing
At the winery, the Chardonnay grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed and gravity-fed into French oak fûts, where fermentation took place using indigenous yeasts. The wine then underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged in the same French oak barrels, a portion of which were new, for approximately 15 months. The final wine was bottled without fining or filtration, preserving purity, texture, and terroir expression.
Tasting Notes
Pale golden in colour, this Rully Chardonnay opens with an expressive nose of elderflower, lemon zest, white peach, and subtle flinty minerality. The palate shows classic Burgundian harmony, balancing vibrant acidity with layered richness. Notes of bright citrus fruit, nuts, oatmeal, and gentle honeyed tones lead to a rounded mouthfeel and a long, elegant finish.
This wine is ideal for cellaring or immediate enjoyment and pairs beautifully with roast poultry, creamy seafood dishes, or soft cheeses.

Discover the exceptional craftsmanship of David Moret, a boutique white wine producer based in the heart of Beaune, Burgundy. A talented micro-négociant winemaker, David has been crafting elegant, oak-aged white wines since the late 1980s, focusing exclusively on Chardonnay grapes from Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune.
Starting with no family vineyards, David took a leap of faith by securing a bank loan to purchase his first barrels and grapes. Today, he sources premium fruit from around eight respected growers, primarily located in the Côte des Blancs triangle, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, and Chassagne-Montrachet, along with hidden gems from lesser-known Burgundy villages that offer outstanding value.
What sets David Moret white Burgundy wines apart is his commitment to quality winemaking and vineyard control. He personally oversees vineyard practices throughout the growing season and determines the optimal harvest date for each parcel. He exclusively purchases whole grape bunches, allowing him to sort fruit meticulously on arrival, now enhanced with state-of-the-art optical sorting technology.
All of David’s white wines from his expressive Bourgogne Aligoté to his prestigious Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne, are oak-fermented and aged on fine lees for 12 to 18 months. Using lightly toasted Allier oak barrels, he achieves his signature style: toasty, textured white wines with vibrant fruit character and a refined finish. The use of new oak is tailored to each vintage and cuvée, ensuring balance and elegance.
Experience handcrafted, small-batch Burgundy Chardonnay wines that reflect both terroir and technique, a true testament to David Moret’s dedication to classic Burgundian winemaking.
