About Auxey-Duresses
Designated an appellation in 1937, Auxey-Duresses lies just south of Saint-Romain and west of Meursault in the renowned Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy.
Often considered one of Burgundy’s best-kept secrets, Auxey-Duresses offers:
• Limestone and clay-rich soils
• Elevated vineyard sites (200–300 metres)
• South-facing slopes for optimal sun exposure
• Remarkable value compared to neighbouring Meursault
The result? White wines with Meursault-like depth but greater tension and affordability.
Vineyard & Terroir
The Chardonnay for David Moret Auxey-Duresses 2023 is sourced from 40-year-old vines planted on south-facing slopes. These mature vines naturally limit yields, producing grapes with enhanced concentration and complexity.
Key Vineyard Details:
• Soil: Predominantly limestone and clay
• Elevation: 200–300 metres above sea level
• Vine Age: Approximately 40 years
• Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
The limestone-rich soils contribute minerality and precision, while the clay adds texture and weight, a classic Côte de Beaune profile.

• Gravity transfer to 228-litre French oak barrels (fûts)
• Indigenous yeast fermentation
• Full malolactic fermentation
• Barrel ageing in the same French oak casks
• Bottled without fining or filtration
The careful integration of oak enhances texture and complexity without overshadowing the fruit. The absence of fining and filtration preserves depth and authenticity.
