Casa Ferreirinha is widely recognised as the pioneering winery that sparked the quality revolution of Douro still red wines, becoming the first Douro wine producer exclusively dedicated to crafting premium still wines rather than traditional Port wine.
Established in 1952 by renowned winemaker Fernando Nicolau de Almeida, the estate released the very first vintage of Portugal’s most prestigious and historically significant red wine, the legendary ‘Barca-Velha’, in that same year.
