Antinori Tignanello 2021
Experience the exceptional Tignanello 2021, a carefully crafted Italian red wine known for its perfect balance of power and finesse. This slow-ripening vintage benefited from ideal climatic conditions, including moderate winter temperatures with spring rains, cool and dry Aprils, and warm, dry summers. Late August rainfall helped initiate optimal grape ripening, while sunny September and October days with cool nights ensured grapes reached peak maturity.
Harvesting began in late September with Sangiovese grapes and finished by October 20th with Cabernet varieties, yielding an award-winning Chianti Classico wine. This vintage showcases the classic blend of predominantly Sangiovese grapes with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, aged 15 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels to develop rich aromas, complex flavours, and supple tannins.
Tignanello stands out as one of the most iconic Tuscan red wines, produced exclusively from limestone-rich soils on the Tignanello estate vineyard at 350-400 meters elevation. It was the first Chianti Classico wine to innovate by aging in small oak barrels and blending non-traditional Cabernet varieties, creating a bold yet refined red wine.
Tasting Notes:
The 2021 vintage displays a vibrant ruby red colour with purple highlights. The bouquet is complex and inviting, featuring ripe plum, blackberry, candied orange peel, dark chocolate, caramel, liquorice, and subtle tobacco aromas. On the palate, it is rich and sophisticated, with vibrant tannins and a long, persistent finish.
Discover Six Centuries of Tuscan Winemaking with the Antinori Family Wines
Experience the legacy of one of Italy’s most iconic wine producers, the Antinori family, whose winemaking heritage in Tuscany spans over 600 years and 26 generations. Since 1385, the Antinori family has crafted fine Italian wines that reflect both ancient tradition and a pioneering spirit of innovation.
Originally silk traders in 12th-century Florence, the Antinori’s transitioned to winemaking and quickly gained international acclaim. By the 16th century, Antinori wines were being exported to France, Flanders, Spain, and North Africa, establishing a global reputation for quality Italian wine exports.
A major milestone in their journey was the acquisition of the Tignanello Estate in 1900, which sparked a new era of innovation and growth. Today, Antinori is celebrated as one of the top Tuscan wine producers, with prestigious vineyards in Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria, and Puglia.
The Antinori vineyards cover nearly 1,400 hectares of premium vineyard land in Tuscany and Umbria, producing world-renowned wines such as Tignanello, Solaia and Badia a Passignano.
As Marchese Piero Antinori states, “Ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never held back our spirit of innovation.”
Whether you're seeking premium red wines from Tuscany or iconic Italian white wines for your collection, the Antinori family continues to define excellence in Italian winemaking.
