Experience the elegance of one of Italy’s most iconic wines. The Antinori Tignanello 2020 is a premium Super Tuscan red wine, crafted with precision and passion in the rolling hills of Chianti Classico. A masterful blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, this vintage is a shining example of the Antinori family’s dedication to excellence in winemaking.
Climate & Harvest Notes
The 2020 growing season in Chianti Classico began with a mild, dry winter followed by a cooler spring with average rainfall. Summer brought warm, stable weather and just the right amount of rain, creating ideal conditions for slow, even ripening. Harvest began on September 20 and concluded by October 9, with each grape variety Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, picked at peak phenolic maturity.
Vinification & Ageing Process
In the cellar, grapes were carefully sorted and fermented in truncated conical tanks, preserving their full aromatic potential. A meticulous maceration process extracted vibrant colour and refined tannins, followed by malolactic fermentation in small French and Hungarian oak barrels. The wine aged for 15 months in oak (both new and second-use), then spent an additional 12 months in the bottle before release, ensuring structure, depth, and age-worthiness.
Tasting Notes
• Colour: Deep, intense ruby red
• Aromas: Bursting with ripe red fruits, cherries, strawberries, blackberries, layered with violet, rose, roasted coffee, cocoa, and subtle spice
• Palate: Rich yet graceful with silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, fresh finish featuring black pepper, liquorice, and Mediterranean herbs
Antinori Tignanello 2020 is a complex and elegant Super Tuscan wine with exceptional ageing potential. Enjoy it now or cellar it to let its flavours evolve beautifully over time.
Expert Review: 96 Points, Vinous
“Wonderfully sleek and racy, with fine tannins that lie below a core of bright, sculpted fruit... the 2020 Tignanello is so primary, so intensely fruit-driven, that it almost tastes like a barrel sample.”
Discover Six Centuries of Tuscan Winemaking with the Antinori Family Wines
Experience the legacy of one of Italy’s most iconic wine producers, the Antinori family, whose winemaking heritage in Tuscany spans over 600 years and 26 generations. Since 1385, the Antinori family has crafted fine Italian wines that reflect both ancient tradition and a pioneering spirit of innovation.
Originally silk traders in 12th-century Florence, the Antinori’s transitioned to winemaking and quickly gained international acclaim. By the 16th century, Antinori wines were being exported to France, Flanders, Spain, and North Africa, establishing a global reputation for quality Italian wine exports.
A major milestone in their journey was the acquisition of the Tignanello Estate in 1900, which sparked a new era of innovation and growth. Today, Antinori is celebrated as one of the top Tuscan wine producers, with prestigious vineyards in Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria, and Puglia.
The Antinori vineyards cover nearly 1,400 hectares of premium vineyard land in Tuscany and Umbria, producing world-renowned wines such as Tignanello, Solaia and Badia a Passignano.
As Marchese Piero Antinori states, “Ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never held back our spirit of innovation.”
Whether you're seeking premium red wines from Tuscany or iconic Italian white wines for your collection, the Antinori family continues to define excellence in Italian winemaking.
