Discover the exquisite Prunotto Barolo Bussia 2017, a renowned single vineyard Barolo DOCG crafted from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the historic Bussia vineyard, Monforte d’Alba. This vintage boasts exceptional quality thanks to a unique 2017 growing season marked by hot temperatures, minimal rainfall, and a perfect balance of day-night temperature swings, ideal conditions for premium Barolo wine production.
The 2017 harvest produced lower yields but superior grape concentration, starting mid-September with meticulous handpicking. The grapes underwent careful destemming, crushing, and an 8-10 day maceration at controlled temperatures, followed by malolactic fermentation and 18 months aging in large oak barrels to develop complexity and smooth tannins.
Tasting Notes
This Barolo Bussia 2017 captivates with a vibrant ruby red colour and garnet highlights. On the nose, expect elegant aromas of ripe red fruits and delicate rose petals. The palate is intense and well-structured, with sweet, silky tannins leading to a long, harmonious finish, perfect for collectors and lovers of traditional Italian red wines.
The Prunotto estate is situated in Alba, a renowned wine town in the Langhe area of Piedmont, Italy, positioned strategically between the famous Barbaresco and Barolo wine-producing zones. Located on the right bank of the Tanaro River, the estate rests on gentle plains surrounded by some of the most prestigious vineyards in the Langhe and Roero wine territories. The landscapes around Alba are breathtaking, featuring softly rolling hills and small sloping valleys blanketed with rows of carefully tended vineyards known for producing high-quality Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto grapes.
Attracted by the exceptional natural beauty, unique vineyard terroir, and diverse soil composition of this centuries-old winemaking region, the historic Antinori family invested their time and expertise into developing the Prunotto estate. Their dedication helped establish Prunotto as one of the leading Piedmontese wineries, celebrated for producing premium Langhe DOC and DOCG wines that reflect the rich tradition and distinctive character of this prestigious Italian wine region.
